Top tips by local Londoners

There’s nothing better than immersing yourself in another country’s culture when you’re on holiday. In the summer there’s an abundance of things to do and events all over London to get involved in, or even just watch from the sidelines. We asked our team at the London Pass and have come up with the top ten things that we have planned in to do over the summer. From roof top raves to roof top yoga, here are some top things to do in London – as recommended by local Londoners. Big Brunch Move over Chiltern Firehouse, that was so 2014. This summer, we’re going back to our roots and revisiting our most loved brunch spots. If it’s one place to get us out of bed early at the weekend it's the firm favourite, the Duck & Waffle. Situated in one of the high-rises in the City, it offers a one-of-a-kind brunch of (yes, you guessed it) duck and waffle, the headliner on the menu, as well as delicious quail eggs, black pudding and pork pies. Delicious! Prince of Wales Rave No, we don’t actually mean the Prince of Wales, aka Prince Charles, we mean the famous pub in Brixton. There’s nothing like a pub garden to get all the Brits out and about in the summer - and what’s even better is one with a roof terrace. The place to go to spend all day and all night is the Prince of Wales pub in Brixton and with a jam-packed schedule of events throughout the summer it promises dusk til dawn parties of all genres every Fridays and Saturdays from June to August. Rooftop Yoga Something slightly more holistic and healing is the yoga craze that's sweeping through London. On the 25th July head up to central London’s latest pop up roof top bar, Roofnic, but swap JD and Cokes, for Juices. On this date only, from 8am, you can roll your mats out and join in on some invigorating Vinyasa to start your weekend. There will be healthy drinks served before and after if you want to stay up and enjoy the views over Hyde Park and the iconic Oxford Street. Vegan Beer Fest One of the more niche London events, the Vegan Beer Fest is one of the most highly anticipated events this summer for beer drinkers alike. On the 18th July at Kings Cross you can sample a wide variety of UK brewed beers, while browsing the handmade vegan clothing and accessories, munching on a variety of vegan food and dancing along to the in house band and DJs. If you like the sound of this but don’t like beer, there is a pop up eco-friendly wine bar too! Phew. Outdoor Cinema Rewatch your favourite films this summer at venues London with the oh-so-popular outdoor cinema events that have taken over the city! From Brompton Cemetery, to a roof top bar in Shoreditch, book tickets to see your guilty pleasures, from The Notebook, to The Shining. More information and film screenings can be found at The Luna Cinema, Rooftop Film Club and Pop Up Screens. Fingers crossed for sun! Theatre in the Park If you fancy something a bit more highbrow, then pay a visit to Regent Park’s Open Air Theatre where you can catch some great classics such as Seven Brides for Seven Brothers and Lord of the Flies this summer. Regent’s Park is one of the most picturesque parks in London (and home to London Zoo) so extend your picnic and pack enough to take you through the evening as you sit in the mini amphitheatre and watch these brilliant productions as the sun sets. SW4 Festival Fans of dance music will want to keep the weekend of 29th and 30th August free and celebrate the last bank holiday of the year in style. If you’re in London this weekend head down to Clapham Common for a weekend full of world-class DJs, drinking and dancing. With headline acts like Faithless, Eric Prydz and Skrillex, SW4 this year is bound to be a big one. What more could you want as we bid the (short but sweet) summer goodbye? Rowing in Hyde Park Hyde Park is a must-visit for anyone coming to London in the summer. Not only does this Royal Park offer 142 hectares of green grass to lay out your picnic rug, but its stunning Serpentine Lake is one of the best bits about it where you can hire a pedalo or rowing boat and spend an hour cruising along the lake. Make sure you know the basics though – it’s every man for themselves out there! Have a splash It’s not often it gets so hot in London you need to go and stand in a fountain in central London to cool off. But it does happen. Some of the best places to go for an impromptu splash are the fountains in the courtyard of Somerset House, the 18th century art gallery on the Strand, over looking the Thames. In the summer you can sit out and have an iced coffee in the cafe to chill down – or take your shoes off and go running through the fountains. Each to their own... Circus Freaks at Wonderground Be wowed at the Wonderground at the South Bank, back another year until the end of September. Book a show for the titillating circus acts of the weird and the wonderful. From cabaret to clowns, the bizarre and burlesque, the shows nods to the classic Freak Shows – but in a 21st century way. Make a day of it and start your morning with a River Cruise and hop off at the London Eye, so you can fit in sightseeing and circus in 24 hours!
